In 2023 Books Inc. launched our new Bay Area literacy nonprofit: Books lnc.’s Reading Bridge, an organization with the mission to provide children across the Bay Area access to new, diverse, and inclusive books.
Since its launch we have experienced the joy of working with 12 schools, serving 6,250 kids, getting 14,000 books into the hands of young readers, and raising $36,000 for PTAs and school libraries. We have accomplished this solely through financial support from Books Inc.
As a company, and from you, the booklovers shopping in our stores who have said yes when invited to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar to support this new program. Your generosity is truly appreciated, and we can’t overstate our gratitude.
Today we are thrilled to share that our 501(c)(3) status has been officially approved and we are ready to take the next step in fundraising and growing Books lnc.’s Reading Bridge!
With your tax deductible contribution we can expand the number of children we serve including Bridge Fair schools in economically disadvantaged Bay Area communities. When we bring a book fair to a Bridge Fair school, in addition to fundraising for the school, every single student gets to a select a book of their choosing at no cost to them from the broadest, highest quality selection of books found at any book fair at any school in the country.
Every child deserves the opportunity to foster their passion, creativity, and love of reading by picking out books for themselves- books that speak to them- to read and read again. Too many kids in our communities across the Bay Area do not get that opportunity. With your help, we can change that.
